Getting Around the Google API Key Issue on Localhost

I have a way to get around the problem of using Localhost with the Google Maps API. As you know, localhost presents its own problems for the API. However, I fake a URL in my development in order to troubleshoot all kinds of things - not just the API. Here is how I do it:

Yeah, this allows me to register a key for any domain and it works on localhost.

Do we have an updated URL to this tip that works, so I can get the details... When I go to the site and enter 'google' in the search box I get the following error:

My URL schema has changed (a loooooong time ago).  Here is the new URL
